Description: CD edition of 200 copies. the 1st 100 are hand painted and numbered with copies from BlRR signed. Stimulus return from another long silence with their first release since 2008 and their first non-improvised release in the best part of 10 years! "Document for the Future" is a 6 track album of all new music and is a partial return to the earlier beat driven sound but with the added twist of vocals on all but the first track, resulting in a radical new sound for the band. As always, Stimulus utilize a whole host of gear on the album. guitar, bass, electric piano, roland tape echo, vintage samplers and loopers, etc along with more modern effects and technologies such as bit crushers, beat repeaters, resonators and more... the album has also been mastered by Denis Blackham at Skye mastering. Artist: Western StandardsTitle: Unraveling Designs Label: Self Released/Private Press Format: LP Catalog #: ws4 Condition: new Price: $20.00
Description: Edition of 110 copies, vinyl only, one time pressing with download card. “Whereas most other music squabbles for your attention whilst it plays, Unraveling Designs is content to remain in your subconscious mind, gently seducing you in an unhurried manner. The steady swelling of opener Recognition is a welcoming crescendo of highly atmospheric textures, seguing perfectly into the bubbling Down From The Sea, which is certainly one of the most carefully conceived and expertly executed numbers of the growing Western Standards repertoire. The monumental title track is the natural centre-piece of the album, like a single ebbing tide of hypnotic magnificence, replete with layers of gradually developing sound-effects and awash with droning ambience. As the song builds to a wonderfully understated climax, the hidden majesty is gradually revealed during an enormously satisfying conclusion. The insistent pulsing of The Needle is a pleasing contrast to the positively ghostly harmonics which sweep in and out of the mix before settling back to a simple, undulating loop. The following Terrain demonstrates some of the harshest textures present on Unravelling Designs, a veritable orchestra of horn like interjections, boldly metered above a fog of hazy distortion. Comparatively, the beautiful closing number Smokewalk is a borderline triumphant series of near musical harmonics which jangle and chime to an appropriately beatific finish. One of the more refined albums of the year but also one of the most rewarding.” - Tommy Dski, pocketjury.net.
Artist: ARCTitle: Somewhere There (Drone Compendium Two) Label: Beta-lactam Ring Records Format: LP Catalog #: mt250 Condition: new Price: $16.00
Description:
There is a tribal element to Arc's 2 long suites that feel somewhat like being stoned in Cologne in 1971. The trios of Aidan Baker, Christopher Kukiel, and Richard Baker return to the quiet with hushed tribal timbres, however, these ambiences are riveting in a way that that other ambiences are not, probably because the group does not think with an ambient attitude. This is the sound of mining midnight. In a universe where experimentalism is often just a nice way of saying "boring," hearing seasoned musicians actually craft something interesting sans computers is like having an orgasm. There really is no compare, except for maybe sneezing, which is Merzbow's department. Vinyl editions of 400 with the subscriber editions limited to 150 copies on 180 gram vinyl and custom made book bound sleeves and signed and numbered certificate.
Artist: Armchair Migraine JourneyTitle: Cosmic Space Drone Label: Beta-lactam Ring Records Format: CD Catalog #: mt162c Condition: new Price: $15.00
Description: AVAILABLE JUNE 15, 2012. An edition of 300 numbered copies with different artwork than the forthcoming LP and available tape editions. The first 50 copies will include an original piece of artwork from the 'hand' sessions and signed insert. Packaged in a custom made gatefold sleeve with insert. Also includes a bonus remix of 'Part One' by Scot Solida/Christus & the Cosmonaughts. “Cosmic Space Drone” lives up to its name, travelling into the deepest void, its gaping maw swallowing up meteoric dust and wayward celestial souls alike to fuel its endless journey into the infinite. Your journey will follow two long tracks, the first a fuzzy, electronic spacerock whiplash effect that surges and shudders, wrenching you away from the scorched earth and all that you know. Once escape velocity is achieved, you will find yourself drifting ever further from home, your only company the thrum and hum of the engines - a soundtrack for a doomed crew. Is it grim, even frightening? Yes, at times. But it’s your only hope for survival -and you’ll thank us when your friends are nothing but smoldering cinders on a world gone mad. So don’t delay! Buy your brain a ticket to ride on these tracks of tachyons, but be warned: this is a one way trip into uncharted territories where ancient machines hum and throb to the forgotten rhythms of distant long-dead pulsars. Once the polychrome porter punches your ticket, there is no hope of return - your consciousness will slowly cook in a churning, burning dark matter stew simmering slowly in a cosmic cauldron. Please, sir, may I have some more? AMJ: bass, sounds, keyboards, voices, HP audio oscillator, effect pedals, field recordings, Caustic Minisynth, DX-7, things that make noise and annoy neighbors and all mix. Scot Solida: big-ass modular synth, VCS3, and Symbolic Sound Kyma System on P. One. Edward Ka-Spel: vocals, effects on P. One.Ty Hodson: drums on P. One. Artwork and design by AMJ. Mastered by Randall Frazier at Helmet Room. Part Two dedicatded to Jesse Peper and the Shadow Folk. |
